Priors are showing you how” – Discodust Yann, the voice of Priors, will be familiar to anyone who turned on a radio in 2000, as his first band, Modjo, had a huge hit single with Lady (Hear Me Tonight), in the process becoming the first French group to score a UK #1 single. Modjo led full circle to Priors, with Yann’s partner in Modjo introducing him to the other half of Priors, Raw Man. At that time Raw Man was in Buffalo Bunch with a guy called Play Paul, whose parents know him as Paul De Homem-Christo, younger brother of Daft Punk’s Guy. Buffalo Bunch carved quite a name for themselves with their remixes of big name acts such as Basement Jaxx and Audio Bullys. What You Need is in the ‘instant classic’ department, receiving heavy support from Radio 1 DJ’s Pete Tong and Jaymo & George and club DJ’s like Ashley Beedle, Grum, Louis La Roche and DJ Pippi. With a set of knockout remixes from the likes of Grum, D CUP and Michael Gray on offer, Priors may just be the next French production duo to break through in 2010.
