Australia’s own Kaz James represents that new breed of global dancefloor superstar. He makes the kind of uplifting, hedonistic house music that doesn’t hold its punches, main room anthems with all the world class production quality you’d expect from someone who could spot a peaktime riff at a thousand paces.
New single ‘Kids’ is a brilliant slice of euphoric house and a precursor to James’ upcoming album featuring N.E.R.D and Joachim Garraud & has already clocked up spins the last 2 weeks in a row on his ‘Essential Selection’ radio show by BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong; one of which during the all important Miami Winter Music Conference Special.
After first cutting his DJ teeth in Melbourne as a resident in the early days of Onelove club night alongside John Course & Grant Smilie, and European summers in Ibiza on the Pacha Terrace, James was also one half of production outfit, Bodyrockers, whose debut single ‘I Like The Way (You Move)’ stands as one of the biggest dance records of all time (and a Top 3 hit in the UK). The track led to years spent on the road, touring the world and generally having the time of his young life. Post-Bodyrockers, James has collaborated with Macy Gray and Limp Bizkit’s DJ Lethal on his debut album ‘If They Knew’ including the singles ‘Breathe’ We Hold On’ & ‘Can’t Hold Back’.
These days you’ll find him rocking Cocoon in Frankfurt, Pacha Ibiza and finishing off the weekend at Italy’s Angels Of Love. It’s the kind of DJ diary that’s seen him share the stage with the likes of Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Pete Tong, Afrojack, Fatboy Slim, Erick Morillo and David Guetta.
After some serious time in his London studio building up his musical arsenal, Kaz James has got his sites & releases set firmly on 2012, as well as tours planned across the UK, Europe, Australia and America later this year.
