Booka Shade 'The Sun & The Neon Light'
Available on ITunes...
The Sun and the Neon Light marks Booka Shade’s third studio album in three years. Of course, this is all in addition to the numerous singles that has continued to position the German trendsetters as an electronic musical force to be reckoned with.
Booka Shade has been the toast of Ibiza and the dance floor darlings the world over for good reason. Often referred to as veterans of the Frankfurt music scene, Booka shade is Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier - together they’re the production masterminds behind numerous turbocharged releases.
The Sun and the Neon Light is Booka Shade all grown up as they move into the world of real instruments and more sporadic downtempo moments. The album highlights the duo’s adaptability and maturity, prominent on tracks like Outskirts that feature strings courtesy of the German Film Orchestra of Babelsberg. The placid acoustic guitar so effortlessly displayed on Solo City also confirms their stature. Nonetheless, the wizardly display throughout The Sun and the Neon Light sits with the vocals, the sweeping orchestras, the instruments and the electronic overtones.
It also features warm moments that surprise. You Don’t Know What You Mean To Me (J’s Lullaby) is a song written by Walter for his newborn son.
Booka Shade’s music continues to hover between the euphoric rises and the melodramatic down moments, all expertly fused together to form a rousing selection of chord changes and cutting–edge vocals.
