Crookers the name behind the international double platinum global chart-smashing remix of Kid Cudi’s Day ‘N’ Night’ recruits Chicago’s own honey-voiced R&B star Jeremih for future smash 'I Just Can't'. The single, taken from Crooker’s incendiary forthcoming album 'Sixteen Chapel', comes hot on the heels of Jeremih’s recent UK Top 5 / Billboard Top 10 platinum single ‘Don’t Tell Em’ feat. YG.

Crookers aka Francesco ‘Phra’ Barbaglia, has been leading the charge for maximalist yet innovative club music for nearly a decade with releases for the cream of international dance labels including Fool’s Gold, Southern Fried, OWSLA, Ministry of Sound and his own imprint Ciao Records, fusing a myriad of genres from house to rap to electro and more leftfield influences to create that signature and much-loved Crookers sound.

With 2010 debut LP Tons Of Friends featuring – as the name suggests – a host of names including Kelis, Soulwax and Major LazerCrookers soon became one of the most sought-after producers on the block, hand-picked to remix some of the hottest names in music from Lady Gaga & Beyonce, N*E*R*D, Snoop Dogg, Young Thug and many more, propelling these tracks straight into the club.

Def Jam’s ‘Birthday Sex’ lothario Jeremih is famed for saying “I can make a great sex song anytime I want, without even saying a body part, without saying anything that would be omitted on the radio. Somehow I’ve just been given that ability.” He’s not wrong – ‘I Just Can’t’ marries his seductive vocals – extolling the virtues of a peachy behind – with Crookers’ pneumatic percussion, menacing synths and earthquake-triggering bass to devastating effect. Speaking about how the collaboration came about, Phra comments, “I’ve been a fan of Jeremih since day one so I had to reach out and see if he’d be up for working together. It was amazing to create something with him for my album! It actually all happened really easily and it just flowed naturally, the best way really."

The must-see video for ‘I Just Can’t’ was created by London animation studio Plastic Horse and sees Phra and Jeremih transposed to a colourful cartoon world, encountering some cheeky statues, a Mafioso eagle and of course, a lorry load of hummus.

I Just Can’t’ cements Crookers’ status as one of the leading lights in electronic music today who, as this dream collaboration more than proves, continues to keep us on our toes.
