Phonat - Fire (Remixes)
Armed with a five year old laptop and a Fender Strat young Italian Michele Balduzzi aka ‘Phonat’ creates genre bending electronic music encompassing French house, D&B, nu disco, mash up, metal, trip hop, ragga, down tempo, funk, fidget, electro and rock. From the hypnotic ‘It’s For You’, to the ground breaking ‘Learn to Recycle’ and the dysfunctional masterpiece ‘London’ of Phonat’s self titled debut album to the downtempo ‘Cockroaches EP’, ‘Identity Theft EP’ and 2014’s ‘Never’ (released on Skrillex’s LA imprint OWSLA and which received high rotation on numerous stations including Triple J in Australia), Phonat has proven to become one of the most respected and esteemed electronic producers in Europe over the last few years.
Phonat now returns with the first of a series of new singles ahead of his sophomore album, the first of which being ‘Fire ft. Jolie and The Key’. Featuring throwback synths and understated percussion, ‘Fire’ (premiered by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1), sees Phonat once again putting the torch to expectations of what modern electronic music should be. In his own words: "This song is a story about commitment and collaboration. Relocating to L.A. to work closely with my OWSLA family has been an unbelievable journey, leading to this and many more to come."
Phonat has remixed artists as diverse as Dizzee Rascal, Skrillex and Andrew Bayer. His music has been used in numerous computer games and he scored the soundtrack to the Xbox game Grid Autosport. When not in the studio Phonat tours across the globe with regular shows in Europe , Asia and North America. Phonat performs as both a DJ and as a live artist.
