Queensland born, Travis Peach has grown up with an undying passion for the underground. Known under his rap name Travy P, the self-taught rap artist prefers not to be confined to one genre of hip hop, breaking down the confines that come with the term ”Australian hip hop”. Citing his influences as Slick Rick, Lord Finesse and Big L he is dedicated to creating a science of music that exhibits impeccably sampled, neck-breaking beats, crafty narratives and his signature mellow ramblings about the every day.
“Music that inspires me is honestly everywhere! I can listen to anything. Making music opened my eyes to a huge world of sounds that I never knew existed. I listen to a lot of old world jazz/soul music and RnB mostly. I’ve also developed a new love of reggae – probably due to current experiences and influences.”
Making his way into the music scene in 2013 with his single “Eggs Benedict” he has since released a string of mixtapes that give a unique voice to an ever-expanding hip hop sub-culture. As for long term commitments, Travy is committed to getting in the booth, day in and day out. With national tours in his sites, we’ve only seen the surface of what he has in store.
“If it were up to me I’d be eating my cereal with a mic in my face. Breakfast and beats – ultimate combo.” All the crowd favourites are on Triple J unearthed and available for download. Travy’s first EP Out Of The Blue is available for download here: www.travyp.com
