Waletr Meego 'Voyager'

Available on ITunes...

WALTER MEEGO is Justin Sconza and Colin Yarck.  Hailing from Chicago, Illinois the duo recently signed to new local indie startup BANDROOM from the tragically hip Almost Gold Label where they cosy up on the sofa with label mates Black Kids, Calvin Harris, and Peter, Bjorn and John.  Walter Meego’s debut album VOYAGER will be released in Australia on September 13.

Walter Meego started out as collaboration between Justin (vox) and Colin (beats/synthesizers) when they met as students at the University of Illinois. Justin had already been circulating four-track tapes at various open mic nights and when the pair teamed up with Pat Pelligrini (turntables/ beats), Walter Meego made its first mark.   The guys recorded their debut EP in 2003 and after a random vinyl copy turned up at Rough Trade Records UK establishment in the Summer of 2005 it was proclaimed  as "best imported record of 2005".

After two solid years of touring Walter Meego can add support spots with VHS or BETA, MGMT and Australian home town electro heroes The Presets to their list. Their live show is an eerie electric revival meeting and for Walter Meego’s audience, the delicious body-jacking beats are just the beginning.  Justin has a voice that floats in and out of sounding like a mixture between Riff Raff from Rocky Horror Picture Show and a helium-sucking John Lennon.

More than anything Walter Meego are worshippers of the “alternative pop years” between 1988 and 1994. VOYAGER is imbued with a cohesive appeal that challenges your heart to accept its connection with a sound that's more Beatles than AIR and more Nirvana than Daft Punk

And they wouldn't be part of the nu-school if they didn't come armed with remixes from the coolest hipsters on the planet including VAN SHE TECH, LA CASTLE VANIA, DEPT., TOMMIE SUNSHINE, SPRUCE LEE & KATO and many more. Keep an ear out for them in your local roller-disco.
