“Calm continueth not long without a storm."

As the much hyped lead single to Shockone’s forthcoming debut album 'Crucify Me Parts I & II’, hit the airwaves this june, it picked up high rotation on triple J, and over 500,000 plays on youtube in a matter of weeks, earning Shockone aka Karl Thomas buzz as one of the major talents in bass music worldwide today.

Hailing from Perth the epicenter of the Australasian drum and bass scene, 2009 saw Shockone come of age with the release of 'The Shockone EP', featuring the seminal 'Polygon'. This tune received major air play world wide on Australia's Triple J radio and Radio 1's Annie Mac penning it as 'The biggest drum and bass tune out'. The EP's three drum and bass tunes achieved the top 3 spots on beatports drum and bass chart, and 'Adachigahara's Theme' stayed at number 1 on the dubstep chart for over a month, subsequently being voted as beatports number 1 all time classic dubstep tune. Following this Shockone released his remix of the Brookes Brothers epic 'Crackdown' on Viper recordings 'Acts of madmen LP' which was labeled "Album of the Week" on Zane Lowe BBC Radio 1. Shockone's collaborations with Phetsta, 'The Sun 2009' and 'Cyclones' have also received high rotation on radio world wide.

If 2009 was the year of establishing himself, 2010 could best be described as the year of the remix for Shockone. His remix discography reading like a who's who of drum and bass and electronic music in general; The Aston Shuffle – Strart Again, Brookes brothers – Crackdown, Netsky- I refuse, Bcee – Help you, Chicane – Come back, Cutline – Die for you, Mutya Buena & Agent X – Fallin all receiving major DJ and radio support worldwide. 2010 also brought the release of the highly anticipated Shockone – 'Re-fix' EP, a collection of VIP's and remixes of the massively successful 'Shockone EP'.

On the touring front Shockone has just toured nationally as support for 'Karnivool' Australian tour, and is set to hit the road again in August & September to promote the forthcoming 'Dubstep Invasion' compilation due out imminently through onelove recordings.

Shockone is no stranger to accolades! Having taken out 'best tune of the year' at the Perth dance music awards 4 years in a row, 'best drum and bass DJ' 3 years in a row and 'best producer' 3 years in a row, Shockone's heavily anticipated debut longplayer is set out for release early 2012. A second single from the album will drop this October. This long awaited solo album is set to push boundaries and cross genres in his usual style as it takes in influences across the board from house, d’n’b, and dubstep.

As a genre, Dubstep has a width and depth that offers something for everybody. From the wonky bass-driven madness of the dark side to the more sexy ambient cuts, the genre has a range that can establish a wide variety of moods. Building the perfect Dubstep vibe involves pulling these varying pieces together into one coherent whole, and Sydney crew Glovecats are accomplished exponents of this approach.

With an ‘anything goes’ musical ethos, Glovecats have been pushing the boundaries of this bass obsessed sound all around Sydney, educating the new and giving appreciation to the old.  Building a following through their many mixtapes, Glovecats have gone from strength to strength supporting some of the biggest players in the genre including NERO, DOCTOR P, RESO, BUNGLE , MT EDEN DUBSTEP, SHOCKONE & PHETSTA, OPTIMUS GRYME, DIZZ-1, BULLETPROOF & AGENT ALVIN.

With studio collaborations with producers Dave Implex & Slice forthcoming on Onelove, and regular stand out sets at Sydney institutions CHINESE LAUNDRY FRIDAYS, SCIENCE FACTION & their own JIVE parties, the Glovecats sound won’t fail to get you reaching for the lasers.
